Strategic Policy Advice


The Strategy and Policy Advice Unit (SPU) is the policy wing of the Country Office. The unit supports capacity development initiatives of government, the UNDP programme units, the United Nations system, civil society, academia and other stakeholders through evidence-based upstream policy dialogue, development planning, programme support and partnerships for poverty reduction and overall realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Putting people at the centre of human development

Hon Kirunda Kivejinja, the third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, (in white suit) unveiling the National Human Development Report on “Unlocking the development potential of Northern Uganda.” Looking on is UNDP Country Director, Ms Almaz Gebru, Prof Tarsis Kabwegyere, Minister in Charge of General duties and Hon. Rebecca Otengo, State Minister for Northern Uganda. The report is the 8th such report for the Uganda Country office and recommends that catalytic investments in Northern Uganda's agriculture targeting smallholder holders, developing the mining sector, improving infrastructure, addressing land tenure, engaging youth and women productively in economic activity and decision making, enhancing social justice will ensure shared prosperity and well-being for the region and its people.
