The Northern Uganda Project

What the project is about

 Rebuilding Northern Uganda. (UNDP Uganda/2012)

With funding support from the UNDP Bureau for Crisis Prevention & Recovery (BCPR), this project focuses on Local Development and Social Cohesion in Northern Uganda, building on past UNDP interventions; it aims at contributing to the social and economic stabilisation of the region.

Project objectives

The key objectives of this project include:

  • Community security, access to justice and social cohesion;
  • Employment creation and economic recovery;
  • Transformation of artisanal mining into sustainable mining in Northern Uganda specifically Karamoja;
  • Strengthening the capacity of targeted local governments and institutions for efficient and effective planning and service delivery.

Who Finances it?

This project is implementated with funding from the UNDP Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR), the Government of Japan and the Government of Uganda.
