UNDP Uganda is currently implementing a five-year country programme (2016-2020) focusing on two major portfolios and five flagship areas with Gender Equality and Women Empowerment as its core principle.
Inclusive and effective governance
Under this portfolio, UNDP supports government of Uganda to put in place systems, policies and institutional mechanisms to combat corruption, improve service delivery, strengthen institutions, entrench rule of law and ensure inclusive participation in decision making. This portfolio focuses on three programmes; Rule of Law and Constitutional Democracy, Institutional Effectiveness and Peace, Security and System Resilience.
Sustainable and inclusive economic development portfolio
This portfolio focuses on improving capacities in climate change response, disaster risk reduction and inclusive green growth. It is premised on the idea that degradation of natural resources increases vulnerability to climate change and therefore countries cannot achieve sustainable development unless they equally invest in addressing challenges of environmental degradation, climate change and gender inequality. This portfolio focuses on two flagship areas namely: Climate Change Response and Disaster Risk Reduction and Inclusive Green Growth.
